Why do we use grapefruit and Sichuan pepper?
We tried many flavors before deciding on our first commercial line of Verment Kombucha. Grapefruits, like oranges and other citrus fruits, are rich in vitamin C; just one medium grapefruit provides 100% of your daily vitamin C needs. This powerful antioxidant supports your immune system and helps protect against viruses and bacteria.
Grapefruits also offer a unique benefit among citrus fruits: they’re high in vitamin A (beta carotene). While an orange provides about 4% of your daily vitamin A, a whole grapefruit delivers over 50%, supporting eye health, immunity, and protection against inflammation.
Sichuan peppercorn stimulates circulation and is rich in zinc, a mineral essential for immune support. With analgesic properties, it contains compounds that bind to pain receptors, helping to reduce discomfort. Additionally, Sichuan pepper boosts appetite and helps regulate blood pressure with its potassium content. However, what excited us most about Sichuan pepper in Verment Kombucha was its bitter taste and the unique numbing sensation on the lips and tongue.
